Event description
Each year, MUZ selects a cohort of three groups of artists from participants in its festival. For an entire year, these artists receive coaching and assistance with shows and studio sessions to help them launch their career.
The MEM is thrilled to invite you to a festive afternoon of diverse music with MUZ’s 2025 cohort!
On the program:
-
Carine au micro – 3 p.m.
This Beninese artist’s love of music took a decisive turn in France where she collaborated with several local emerging artists. On her arrival in Quebec in 2004, Carine joined the choir Imani Gospel Singers, which allowed her to immerse herself in Montréal’s music scene. In 2013, she took part in the musical comedy Mahalia Jackson at the Montréal Segal Centre.
LiKouri – 4 p.m.
Singer-songwriter LiKouri grew up in Montréal where she spent time in various artistic milieus and discovered her passion for the performing arts. She then moved to the Côte-Nord where she taught herself to play the accordion and started writing her first songs. Inspired by her Indian, Lebanese and Quebecois roots, LiKouri is accompanied by five talented musicians who bring to life her unique world celebrating words, story, song and the magic of music.
Less Toches – 5 p.m.
Less Toches is a quintet that plays cumbia in the classic format, with an accordion, guacharaca, bass and Afro-Colombian drums. It’s also a musical collision of five explosive individuals who have created an unexpected, refreshing musical “big bang” in Montréal. Their Colombian, Mexican and Argentinian roots come through in the rhythms of this traditional music genre.
