MEM is a citizen museum featuring the first-hand accounts of many Montrealers. Witnesses to History is a special guided tour of the museum that includes discussions with some of the people behind those stories. They’ll be on hand to share their experiences with you.

For Black History Month, we’ve invited Rito Joseph, founder of Black Montreal Experiences, to guide the tour. Visitors will have an opportunity to discover the rich contributions of Black communities to Montréal’s history and culture.

During the tour, you could meet a Rwandan immigrant, Montréal’s first Afro-Canadian firefighter, the descendants of a tap dancer and a train porter, or a city official who helped to create programs promoting intercultural relations.

Please note that not all witnesses will be on hand for both tours. The individuals you meet will depend on the day of your visit.
