It’s time to dig your favourite old T-shirt out of the closet! On October 27, from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m., come and give it a second life by adding a personal touch, doing a creative repair job, or completely altering it.
Needle, thread and creativity
Explore simple, fun ways to repair, alter and customize a piece of clothing. Using a needle, thread, patches, buttons and fabric scraps, you’ll create a unique piece that matches your style.
Each piece of clothing has a story to tell. By changing yours, you’ll create a new story. You’ll also learn tips on how to consume fashion differently, reduce waste and express your creativity.
Behind the scenes of the fashion industry
When you sign up for the workshop, you’ll also get to visit the exhibition Le Cucitrici: Voices of Montréal’s Italian Seamstresses. You can connect your project to the history of the women who sewed, created and altered clothes in Montréal’s garment factories.
General information
This activity is for teens aged 12 to 17 years. No sewing experience necessary. Come with a piece of clothing you’d like to repair or alter and leave with an original creation, ready to be worn with pride.
