GENDER B(L)ENDER - Queer Open Mic
Discover GENDER B(L)ENDER, an open mic that lets queer and trans community members showcase their talents and express their true selves.

The cultural programming developed around the Detours exhibition allows MEM visitors to meet the people it features and immerse themselves in unique experiences linked to their remarkable worlds.
As part of this programming, Kama La Mackerel is presenting a special edition of GENDER B(L)ENDER. Launched in 2013, the open mic initiative aims to create a safe, welcoming, supportive, and loving space for queer and trans community members to explore and showcase their talents.
All forms of art are welcome, including song, poetry, spoken word, storytelling, stand-up, puppetry, and drag. The open-stage format allows both established artists and amateurs to perform. The audience is encouraged to show love, warmth, and care, and to mingle respectfully.
While no one will be booed or kicked off stage, GENDER B(L)ENDER aims to be a safe space for everyone, including both performers and audience members. Transphobia, homophobia, racism, sexism, and other forms of oppression have no place at its events, and hateful language and behaviour of any kind will not be tolerated.
General admission: first come, first seated.
Our bar will be open for the evening.
