POP-UP! Discover the archaeology of the Faubourg Saint-Laurent
Archaeologists from the City of Montréal share their knowledge about artefacts found close to the MEM.

Two archaeologists from the City of Montréal’s heritage division will talk about objects displayed in the exhibition Archaeology in the Faubourg Saint-Laurent: 19th-century lives and artefacts. François Gignac and Sébastien Leduc, who curated the exhibition presented in the MEM’s Window Display area, will be on hand to meet with you in the museum’s public spaces.
How does the City plan and carry out archeological digs? What is the history of the neighbourhood in which the MEM is located? What was daily life like in the past? What types of objects make up the material culture of the Faubourg Saint-Laurent? If you’d like to know more, come and talk to our specialists!
Archaeology in the Faubourg Saint-Laurent: 19th-century lives and artefacts presents three faubourg families through objects associated with them. These artefacts were found by archaeologists during digs planned by the City of Montréal. This exhibition is a unique opportunity to discover magnificent fragments from the past that reveal rich and familiar lives.
What is a POP-UP?
This activity at the MEM is a chance for you to talk to members of our team who are passionate about given topics. Instead of attending a formal talk, you can chat with specialists in the exhibition spaces at the time of your choosing.
