Event description

From September to April, the MEM and the Laboratoire d’histoire et de patrimoine de Montréal at UQAM will be holding a one-day gathering every month to explore citizens’ involvement in history and heritage. Historical societies and Montréal heritage organizations will visit the museum to talk about their missions, areas of expertise and actions: the production, presentation and sharing of historical knowledge; participation in cultural and community life; and actions to protect our heritage. Come and chat with their members . . . and perhaps get involved!

For this last gathering in the series, we’ll be welcoming the Société d’histoire d’Ahuntsic-Cartierville and the Société patrimoine et histoire de l’île Bizard et Sainte-Geneviève. Between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m., their members will be in the MEM’s Belvedere to talk about these two riverside boroughs. From the ice cutters of Île Bizard to the mills of Sault-au-Récollet, Rivière des Prairies has plenty of secrets to reveal!

At 2 p.m., make your way to the MEM Cabaret for a round table discussion on how both historical societies are working to protect and showcase the heritage of their respective boroughs.

Places limited. First come, first seated.
