Event description
From September to April, the MEM and the Laboratoire d’histoire et de patrimoine de Montréal at UQAM will be holding a one-day gathering every month to explore citizens’ involvement in history and heritage. Historical societies and Montréal heritage organizations will visit the museum to talk about their missions, areas of expertise and actions: the production, presentation and sharing of historical knowledge; participation in cultural and community life; and actions to protect our heritage. Come and chat with their members . . . and perhaps get involved!
For this first gathering, we’re delighted to welcome the Société historique de Montréal., Created in 1858, the Société is one of Montréal’s oldest active cultural organizations. You’ll participate in the public recording of its radio program Notre histoire en tête. The episode will be about the Société’s involvement in putting on the exhibition Il était une fois Montréal, les Champenois en Nouvelle-France, which is currently being shown in Troyes, France. The exhibit features the founders of Montréal, from Paul de Chomedey de Maisonneuve and Jeanne Mance to Marguerite Bourgeoys, along with other lesser-known figures. Guests on the program will also talk about the history of the Société historique de Montréal, a testament to Montrealers’ long-standing involvement in history and heritage.
Notre histoire en tête airs every Tuesday at 9nbsp;a.m., on Radio VM (91.3 FM).
Spots limited. First come, first seated.
