Description of educational activity
A Mile in My Shoes is a project created by artist Clare Patey for the Empathy Museum in London. Discover the inventory of this unusual store, where each pair of shoes is accompanied by an audio recording of its owner telling us about a life-changing event.
We’ve adapted the experience so you can bring the project to your school. We’ll select a few pairs of shoes for you to present. We suggest you divide students into sub-groups to listen to the stories. Afterwards, you can invite them to discuss what they felt and why empathy is important.
The MEM is listed in the Répertoire Culture-Éducation. This in-class activity is eligible for financial assistance through the Cultural Workshops at School program.
