Detours – Urban Experiences and A Mile in My Shoes
From the Empathy Museum in London, A Mile in My Shoes is a project created by artist Clare Patey. Visitors are invited to enter a shoe shop where each pair of shoes is linked to an audio recording of its owner telling the story of a life-changing event. The activity has been adapted so that participants can listen to and discuss the stories as a group.
Videos are at the heart of Detours, a uniquely staged immersive exhibition that offers a glimpse into an unexpected Montréal. Montrealers share their fascinating worlds, which unfold in out-of-the-way corners of the city. These one-on-one encounters alternate with larger-than-life collective moments.
