A virtual reality experience and exhibition retracing the career and life of opera singer Joseph Rouleau.

FINAL ENCORE is an immersive animated biopic based on the archives of opera singer Joseph Rouleau. President of the Mouvement d'action pour l'art lyrique du Québec, driving force behind the creation of the Opéra de Montréal and co-founder of the Concours musical international de Montréal, which celebrates young singers, violinists and pianists, Joseph Rouleau's contribution to Montreal's musical heritage is incomparable. Director Émilie Rosas set out to dust off the world of opera and reveal Joseph Rouleau, a great pioneer of Quebec opera. The installation tells his story, revisiting his personal archives, memoirs and greatest solos.
The experience unfolds in four acts, taking us backstage and onto the stage of London's Royal Opera House, where Joseph sang for over 30 years. To make the experience even more interesting, artistic portraits of Joseph and interactive objects can be manipulated by participants. Each act features 2D visual archives and remastered, spatialized sound sequences in an immersive, interactive 3D environment. Immerse yourself in the world of opera!
The MEM is delighted to host this innovative project that pays tribute to one of the great pioneering artists who shaped Quebec music. The original immersive documentary technology will appeal to both older and younger audiences.
